There's always a first time, and this is it: my very first webcam blog, featuring a brand new recording of my poem 'Infinity, and So Forth', filmed just a few feet away from the site of its composition, and a sneak preview of a new self-portrait.
Here is the painting, which is approximately 10 x 14 inches, in close-up:
and in full frame:
**********
To see a world in a grain of sand
And a Heaven in a wild flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour.
A Robin Redbreast in a cage
Puts all heaven in a rage.
William Blake
Innovative as always Mr P.
ReplyDeleteI do agree that your self portrait could do with a little more work. As it is it does not do credit to one of this country's finest examples of the thinking womans red hot totty!
I'll repeat myself from YouTube over here:
ReplyDeleteThank you for that wonderful reading of a thought-teasing poem; you have a knack for unexpected internal rhymes!
Will you be posting the text of your poem, or will you be saving it for a future collection?
The full text of the poem is here: http://vulpeslibris.wordpress.com/2008/06/03/in-conversation-with-edward-petherbridge/
ReplyDeleteScroll to the bottom of the page.
Splendid! Thank you for the link.
ReplyDeleteThe scientist asks questions with formulas, the poet with words. I prefer the poet's questions for they seem more honest, allowing for a wider range of answers, including the divine.
ReplyDeletePerhaps in one sense the artist's portrayal of himself is more honest than the photographer's-who may get an exact likeness but not the heart, or not what the heart wants to say.
The poem is so thought provoking, prompting me to listen several times to appreciate it and begin to understand it.
The dark colors of the portrait seem sad or foreboding, or perhaps they are merely pensive as well?
Actor, painter and a poet too. So many gifts given to just one man in one life time. I thank Mr. Petherbridge for sharing himself with us.
ReplyDeleteP.S.
The self-portrait seems a bit like the sly, grey fox to me! :>)
